August was born in 1962 in Inawashiro, Fukushima prefecture, to an American father and a Japanese mother. He grew up in Yokohama and San Diego. August became interested in anti-ageing when he was a pre-medical student at San Diego State University. He returned to Japan to help start his first business at age 25, selling US-manufactured filtration products. After selling this company in 1996, he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where his interest in nutrition and anti-ageing were rekindled. His family then moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he began studying natural farming methods. After studying under various tutors of anti-ageing, nutritional science and organic farming, August returned to academic education to receive his Ph. D in Nutritional Science. Concurrently, he founded Abios in 2006, a company dedicated to manufacturing health and skincare products using only the cleanest purely natural ingredients. Dr. Hergesheimer is also an active participant in several philanthropies including Room to Read, Save the Children, UNICEF, Save Minamisoma Project, and Playground for Hope.

In addition to being a business owner and operator, a lecturer, and an author of 12 books, August is the proud father of 5 children (ages 18-30) and shares his time monthly between his residence in New Zealand and business in Japan.

Takemi Tokumoto http://findyourelement.jp/fye-leaders/takemi-tokumoto/ Sat, 08 Sep 2018 05:21:37 +0000 http://findyourelement.jp/?post_type=fye-leaders&p=1483 Jack the Magician

Takemi Tokumoto was born and raised in Osaka. He attended elite schools all his life without deviating from social convention, being the “good boy that made his parents proud.” He went to the University of Washington as an exchange student, and while there, he mastered the English language. After graduating, he joined SHARP and worked diligently because that was what he was supposed to do.

But then all that changed when the company went bankrupt and employees were laid off. Takemi took the opportunity to do something creative. He went to work for an advertising firm. It was during this time that he was asked to do some magic tricks at a corporate event as part of the entertainment.

He spent two months practicing in order to be as good as he can. He also thought of an idea to make it more fun — dressing up as Captain Jack Sparrow, the character from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. His magic act was a huge success. Clients and company staff were overjoyed. Little did he know that his life would change forever.

Takemi felt a sense of fulfillment that he had never experienced before. He had never done anything like it before. He felt like his talent was recognized. He also felt a sense of acknowledgment for being successful in making others happy.

Soon after, he started to do magic shows part-time at bars in Shinjuku and private events. He became good enough that he was able to quit his corporate job and be a full-time pirate magician impersonating Captain Jack Sparrow. From there on, wonderful things began to unfold.

In 2017, he interviewed Johnny Depp himself and other actors from “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” at the movie’s Japan premier. The interview was aired on a national TV show. The same year, he appeared at an event in China with Kevin McNally (one of the pirate characters in the movie) and other Hollywood actors. Takemi’s performance was broadcast on the Internet and had 5.5 million viewers.

Takemi entertains at events, parties, trade shows, restaurants, TV and radio shows. He also does magic shows at hospitals and various institutions on a volunteer basis.

Tiffany Rossdale http://findyourelement.jp/fye-leaders/tiffany-rossdale/ Tue, 04 Sep 2018 17:30:56 +0000 http://findyourelement.jp/?post_type=fye-leaders&p=1461

Born and raised in Manila, the Philippines, Tiffany moved to Tokyo almost 20 years ago. In Tokyo, she discovered opportunities in the nightlife industry. She soon found herself frequenting exclusive A-list parties and underground clubs. In time, she became one of Tokyo’s mega-socialites.

Tiffany started hosting and organizing her own events in 2007. Since then, she has hosted some of the biggest and most glamorous parties in Tokyo, ranging from anniversaries, Halloween to New Year’s Eve parties. In addition, she has hosted events such as Kat deLuna’s Official VIP & Press Party and for Lavelle Smith Jr., choreographer to many American pop stars such as Michael Jackson.

Tiffany is best-known as the producer of Tokyo Fashionista Events, the sexiest, exclusive fashion networking event. She was also chosen as a judge at the International Pole Dance Fitness Competition.

In 2010, she embarked on another career as a DJ. Her official debut was at Velours, one of the most luxurious clubs, where celebrities and fashionable people congregate. She has become one of Tokyo’s most in-demand foreign DJs. She has also played at some of the biggest clubs in Tokyo, including Ageha, the largest club of its type in Asia. She was the opening DJ at the Vita Chambers club in Tokyo, as well as at a New Year’s Eve party in Beverly Hills and at the biggest Yacht Swingers event in Miami.

Despite Tiffany’s success and popularity in the Tokyo nightlife scene, most people don’t know about her life outside of the party scene – the things she had to do to protect her image and the secrets she had to keep in order to fit in. For the first time, Tiffany will reveal her secret struggles and her life journey in Tokyo: the major heartbreaks; a lover who encouraged her to make changes in her life to be a better and more loving person (to herself and to others); and finding her way to being the best version of herself on a daily basis.

Juan Rabanal http://findyourelement.jp/fye-leaders/juan-rabanal/ Mon, 03 Sep 2018 17:43:32 +0000 http://findyourelement.jp/?post_type=fye-leaders&p=1468

Juan is an Paraguayan Designer and businessman raised in Buenos Aires. He is  currently based in Tokyo and Los Angeles. He was recently chosen by Forbes Asia as one of the top 50 entrepreneurs under 35.

In 2002, he decided to follow his passion for the fashion industry and attended Istituto Marangoni in London. After finishing his studies, he joined the Ralph Lauren team in London, and in 2006, he helped launch the brand in Japan. He was also involved  in overseeing the launch of other brands in Japan, such as H&M and Forever 21.

Then in 2010, he decided to strike out on his own. He founded Moda + Tecnica. It quickly became a trusted agency specializing in fashion in Tokyo and Milan. He sold the business in 2016 and started another consultancy that supports regional brands back home in South America. He also embarked on a new career as a TV host.

Having been abroad for 3 years, Juan returned to Tokyo and started Numero One in March 2018. Numero One helps companies in the fashion, retail and lifestyle sectors to break into the Japanese market and succeed. Numero One provides services in three areas: advise them on payroll, accounting, legal and administrative matters; help recruit leaders and senior management staff; and provide expertise in PR and communications, brand marketing and brand engagement. Where Numero One differs from its competitors is its close, long-standing ties with industry figures and operating in 3 locations, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

When he’s not running Numero One, Juan loves to fly. He has a license to fly single engine planes. “When I was a teenager, we had a ranch, and the only way we could get there was by a single-engine plane. The pilot would teach me how to go up and down. After that, I began to take lessons and got my license when I was 32. Every time I go home [to Paraguay], I fly for an entire day, helping me connect with my self. It’s beautiful.”

As a “Find Your Element” Leader, Juan will deliver a 60-minute workshop on “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and his wisdom in our daily life.

David Caplan http://findyourelement.jp/fye-leaders/david-caplan/ Fri, 31 Aug 2018 17:31:47 +0000 http://findyourelement.jp/?post_type=fye-leaders&p=1462 David Caplan was born in the Bronx, New York on Dec 20,1934. In 1948, he and his family — parents and older brother — moved to Sydney, Australia. They took a freighter ship that accommodated 12 people. Back then, only the super rich could afford to fly. It took about 42 days, but he had a great time on the journey with his family.

David graduated from Canterbury Boys Junior High School in Sydney in 1949. He immediately started to work at his father’s new business in wholesale artificial jewelry. He sometimes jokes about how he had six years of real education by the time some of his friends were graduating from college.

Then in 1958, he went on a 2-week business trip to Japan to purchase goods for his jewelry business. This time, he flew on a jet plane. The round-trip ticket cost about a typical salary man’s annual income. Unfortunately, the outcome of that business trip was not good. But then in 1962, he returned to Tokyo to represent a good friend who was dealing in Australian Opals. And five years later, he established Opal Trading Co. in Tokyo. That was also when he got married to a Japanese woman and they have two sons.

Between 1962 to 1995, David was going to Australia roughly 10 times a year. He began collecting Japanese woodblock prints (Ukiyo-e) in 1968. In turn, he established Mita Arts Co Ltd in 1968 in Mita, Tokyo, and started to deal woodblock prints. His second son joined the company in 1990.

David retired from the precious stone business in 2005 to concentrate on Ukiyo-e. He opened Mita Arts Gallery Ltd. in Kanda, Jimbo-cho. That same year, he and his wife divorced. Shortly after, he found out he had cancer. But that hasn’t stopped him.

Currently, he enjoys taking trips every year to the US and Europe to buy Ukiyo-e. He also enjoys traveling around the world with his partner. He will turn 84 this year.

His company, Personal Branding Program, helps women entrepreneurs in Japan to establish and accelerate their service-based business.

In his professional career, Edvard has helped over 2,000 professionals, managers, consultants, and entrepreneurs around the world in their businesses through workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions. He has founded three different businesses in Croatia and in Japan.

When he was a student at the University of Zagreb, he realized that academic knowledge was not enough to succeed life and in business. That realization led him to start various projects to help other students gain skills and experience. He also discovered that the best way to live life is through education and entrepreneurship.

In his first startup in Croatia, he sold a training program and software that improves the quality of service in the hospitality and financial industry. When the financial crisis in 2008 forced companies to cut their budgets for training, Edvard became Area Sales Manager for one of the biggest retail and distribution company in SE Europe. That’s also when he met his wife, a Japanese professional pianist. They moved to Japan in 2014.

In Japan, he completed his MBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership at Globis University, the top business school in Japan. After Globis he joined Tech Startup in Tokyo and helped with branding and inbound marketing strategy to launch a new mobile application.
