We may find it difficult to be in a state of peace and balance because of the challenges we experience today, not to mention all the hustling and bustling in our daily lives. But when one thinks about it, a great deal of our restlessness and unhappiness stem from our impressions of ourselves and judgments of things around us. We might also have a tendency to focus on other people — what successes they have instead of our own — leading to feelings of insecurity, envy or low self-esteem.
Yoga, including meditation, provides plenty of benefits that change our mindset about occurrences in our lives, and how best to approach them. It gently restructures our pessimism towards undesirable circumstances through physical postures (asanas) and breathing. Yoga instills unity and connection in our hearts, so we become more cheerful and at peace. It is a way to lift up the spirits!
Martin Seligman, the father of positive psychology, theorizes that while 60 percent of happiness is determined by our genetics and environment, the remaining 40 percent is up to us – if this is true, we need to get to work!
In this workshop, I will be sharing my life story as well as guiding you to learn ways on how to think and act that will impact our sense of happiness. Take it from the yogi. It’s all true.
This workshop aims to show you how to:
◆ Quiet down your mental chatter
◆ Reduce sensations of anxiety and pain through various breathing techniques
◆ Learn to become less reactive
◆ Think like a child
